An odd-eyed cat is a cat that has one blue eye and then one eye either yellow, green, or brown. This is called feline complete heterochromia, and it can be found in white cats. The cause is when an epistatic white gene prevents melanin from reaching one eye. In Turkey, Angora cats that have complete heterochromia are protected, as they are considered a national treasure. 10-20% of cats that are born with complete heterochromia are deaf in one or both ears. We were lucky to have a kitten visit us today with complete heterochromia. Look at the beautiful eye colors!
